Julie R. Brahmer, MD is an assistant professor of oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. She received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and went on to complete an internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. In 1997 she began her fellowship training at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in medical oncology before joining the faculty.
Dr Brahmer is an active clinical leader in the treatment of lung cancer and mesothelioma at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. As an active member of the Drug Development Program, she is continually in search of a drug or combination that can be developed for lung cancer treatment.
Dr Brahmer is active within ASCO, serving on many committees as well as the ASCO Lung Cancer Guidelines Committee and is a member of the ECOG Thoracic Committee. She also serves on the Medical Advisory Boards for the Lung Cancer Research Foundation and Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation. Dr Brahmer was one of the founding board members of the National Lung Cancer Partnership and is a member of the scientific executive committee.
