Katie A. Burger, RN is a clinical nurse coordinator in gynecology/oncology at Columbia University’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center in New York, New York. Ms Burger earned her nursing degree from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She continued her studies at Southern Connecticut State University in Nursing Leadership and Nursing Theory.
Ms Burger began her nursing career in gynecology/oncology at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut working in both the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings. She continued her work in oncology at New York University Medical Center in New York, New York and joined Columbia University in 2004.
Ms Burger’s responsibilities include education and management of patients on chemotherapy. She is actively involved in on-going clinical protocols, assisting with patient compliance and documentation. For her clinical acumen, Ms Burger has been awarded the Yale-New Haven Hospital Nurse of the Year in Gynecology/Oncology and the Connecticut Nightingale Award for Leadership in Nursing.

Robert L. Coleman, MD is professor of gynecologic oncology and vice-chair of clinical research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr Coleman received his doctor of medicine degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and completed his obstetrics/gynecology residency at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Dr Coleman completed his fellowship at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr Coleman’s research interests include novel therapeutics for ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancer, clinical trial development and statistical design, surgical innovations, and graduate education. He is the institution’s Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) principal investigator (PI) and is PI or co-PI for several GOG prospective clinical trials including a national, multicenter, randomized trial evaluating chemotherapy and surgery for recurrent ovarian cancer, several trials of novel chemotherapeutics and biologics in cancers of the ovary, cervix, and uterus, and 2 trials evaluating lymphatic mapping for gynecologic malignancies. He currently is a co-project leader for the MDACC Ovarian SPORE, the MDACC Uterine SPORE, the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, and the Marcus Foundation, each of which is sponsoring novel therapeutics trials in gynecologic cancers.
Dr Coleman has authored and coauthored over 400 scientific publications, including over 130 peer-reviewed articles, numerous book chapters, monographs, invited articles and textbooks including, The Handbook of Gynecologic Oncology, Clinical Lymphatic Mapping in Gynecologic Cancers, and Prognostic and Predictive Factors in Gynecological Cancers. Dr Coleman serves as the chairman of the Department of Gynecologic Oncology Research Administration Committee and is a member of the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program Executive Committee. Dr Coleman is also a member of the board for the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation. In June 2010 he was appointed to the Ann Rife Cox Chair in Gynecology and is a member of the MD Anderson Cancer Center's Center for RNA Interference and Non-Coding RNA.

Thomas J. Herzog, MD, director of gynecologic oncology and Physicians and Surgeons Alumni Professor of Clinical Gynecology and Obstetrics, joined Columbia University Medical Center after spending 11 years at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he had served as an associate professor and the director of the fellowship training program. Dr Herzog graduated from medical school at the University of Cincinnati and completed his residency at Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati in 1990. He moved to St. Louis and completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology in 1993.
Dr Herzog is board certified in obstetrics, gynecology, and gynecologic oncology. His clinical specialties include innovative cancer surgery, laparoscopy, and colposcopy. Dr Herzog has conducted extensive research on tumor suppressor genes, molecular genetics, cytokines, and pre-invasive cervical cancer. As an active participant in the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), he has a keen interest in applying the principles learned from the lab to the clinical setting. He is a principal investigator in a number of GOG trials with a special emphasis in ovarian cancer. Dr Herzog is a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee and is currently chairing the Subcommittee on Gynecologic Oncology of the Committee on Gynecologic Practice for the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He has authored or coauthored over 150 peer-reviewed articles and lectures extensively.

David S. Miller, MD, FACOG, FACS is director of gynecologic oncology, the Dallas Foundation Chair in Gynecologic Oncology, and professor of obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr Miller earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He completed a residency in obstetrics & gynecology at the Hospital of the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Stanford University Medical Center.
Dr Miller serves on the Gynecologic Cancer Steering Committee for the National Cancer Institute’s Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program, as an examiner for the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and on the Gynecologic Oncology Group Protocol Development Committee and Uterine Corpus Committee. Among his numerous professional affiliations, Dr Miller is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists. Dr Miller is a reviewer for several journals including the American Journal of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, and Cancer. He has published numerous original articles, textbook chapters, and abstracts and has delivered invited presentations at hundreds of conferences, congresses, and seminars nationwide and abroad.

Bradley J. Monk, MD, FACS, FACOG is a professor in the Creighton University School of Medicine at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, a member of Catholic Healthcare West in Phoenix, Arizona. Previously he spent 12 years as a tenured faculty member and director of research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Gynecologic Oncology, at the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, UCI Medical Center in Orange, California. Dr Monk received his doctor of medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Dr Monk’s research focuses on areas that include chemotherapeutic agents used to treat ovarian and cervical carcinoma; etiology, clinical significance, and prevention of postoperative adhesions following radical pelvic surgery; biomarkers in gynecologic cancers; human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in women; and QOL issues in advanced ovarian cancer patients. Dr Monk has been an investigator for the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) since 1995. There, he serves as the Group’s Cervical and Vulvar Committee Chair and also as a member of the Tissue Utilization, Publications, and Protocol Development committees. He is principal investigator for GOG at UCI and study chair for both group-wide phase III trials in cervical cancer.
Dr Monk serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, including Clinical Cancer Research, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Cancer, and The Journal of Clinical Oncology. He currently sits on the editorial boards of Community Oncology, American Journal of Hematology/Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology, and Clinical Ovarian Cancer. He has authored or coauthored numerous textbook chapters and more than 120 articles in peer-reviewed journals dealing predominantly with the prevention and chemotherapy of gynecologic malignancies, and with quality-of-life (QOL) aspects of cancer care. Dr Monk is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology.

Judith K. Wolf, MD is professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology and associate director of Developmental Therapeutics in gynecologic oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr Wolf earned her medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio followed by a fellowship in gynecologic surgery at the University of Minnesota in Duluth and clinical and research fellowships in gynecologic oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, Dr Wolf earned a master’s degree in biomedical sciences from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
Dr Wolf’s past laboratory research focused on gene therapy for ovarian cancer, concentrating on methods to improve gene therapy delivery and targeting systems. Clinically, she is actively involved in evaluating novel chemotherapeutic and anti-angiogenic agents for the treatment of gynecologic malignancies and is principal or co-investigator of several on-going clinical protocols.
Dr Wolf is a member of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition Advisory and Governing Boards and is actively involved in a number of professional organizations including the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association of Cancer Research. In addition, she is a member and past president of the Houston Gynecologic and Obstetrics Society and is chair and founder of the Sprint for Life 5k run; to date, the event has raised over $2.3 million for the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program at MD Anderson. Dr Wolf serves as a reviewer for several journals such as Gynecologic Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, International Journal of Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research and has authored or coauthored numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, review articles, editorials, and research abstracts.
