An estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed and 40,170 women will die from this disease. The incidence rate of breast cancer peaked in the 1980s and early 1990s increasing by approximately 4% per year until the mid-1990s. Between 1999 and 2006, breast cancer incidence rates decreased by 2% per year.
