Chandra P. Belani, MD is deputy director of the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute (PSHCI), and Miriam Beckner Distinguished Professor of Medicine, Penn State Hershey Medical Center & Penn State College of Medicine.
Dr Belani directs translational and clinical investigations across all programs and the disease-teams at the PSHCI. Dr Belani is internationally renowned for his accomplishments in the area of lung cancer therapeutics and new drug development. His research efforts have led to changes in treatment paradigms for lung cancer. Dr Belani interacts closely with other lung cancer experts across the world to develop and identify new therapeutic strategies to improve efficacy of interventions for the prevention and treatment of lung and thoracic malignancies, and he has led several national and international trials focusing on these objectives. Dr Belani plays a key role in moving promising new discoveries for the treatment of all solid malignancies form the laboratory to the clinic and serves as a leader for early phase clinical trials programs at the PSCI.
Dr Belani has received multiple awards for his work and has extensively contributed to the literature on lung cancer and new drug development.
