Neil E. Kay, MD is a professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota, where he also acts as a consultant for the division of hematology in the department of internal medicine. Dr Kay received his MD at University of Manitoba Medical School in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was an intern in medicine at Winnipeg General Hospital, and a resident in internal medicine at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. Dr Kay subsequently stayed on at Upstate Medical Center to complete fellowships in hematology and immunohematology. He is board certified in internal medicine and hematology.

Dr Kay is actively involved in several research protocols sponsored by the National Cancer Institute to study the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). He has published extensively on the topic, as well as other biologic CLL B-cell studies in hematology, in journals such as Blood, Leukemia, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Journal of Clinical Oncology. His current laboratory-based interests are in the analysis of drug testing for CLL B-cell in the presence and absence of stroma, the role of angiogenesis in CLL, and CLL B-cell interaction or crosstalk with the host microenvironment.
