Suresh S. Ramalingam, MD is associate professor of Hematology-Oncology at Emory University and is the director of the Division of Medical Oncology. He also serves as the chief of Thoracic Oncology at the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. Prior to coming to Emory, Dr Ramalingam was an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr Ramalingam specializes in the treatment of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies.
Dr Ramalingam’s research interests include development of novel anti-cancer agents, management of elderly patients with lung cancer, and evaluation of methods to individualize therapies to patients. He serves as the principal investigator on several early phase clinical trials sponsored by the NCI. He also serves as the co-chair of the Thoracic Core Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group.
Dr Ramalingam has been the recipient of prestigious awards such as the UPCI Leadership Award for Excellence in Clinical Trials Program Development and the James Eckman Award for excellence in teaching at Emory University. He has been included in the list of Best Doctors in America. Dr Ramalingam has also been named as a Distinguished Cancer Scholar by the Georgia Cancer Coalition. Dr Ramalingam has published several original papers, review articles, and editorials on lung cancer in leading peer-reviewed journals on lung cancer.
